The Chofi Box was born from the heart of community. Chofi, a beloved West African street food
snack, is known across African countries like Ghana, Togo, Ivory Coast, and Congo for its
irresistible taste and the way it brings people together. It’s a food that bonds generations, builds
connections, and creates memories.

Our founder’s journey with Chofi started in the most personal way: sitting in a car park with her mother, Nana Yaa Dufie, sharing a spicy tub of Chofi with kenkey, pepper, and laughter. It was more than a meal — it was a moment of connection. The Chofi had a warmth, a spice that ignited her senses and sparked conversation. That first bite was full of excitement, with the fiery chili flakes dancing on her tongue, and the warmth of community filling her heart.
As she grew older, the experience of sharing Chofi with family, friends, and loved ones became even more special. Whether it was being gifted Chofi by her aunties or enjoying it together in a Asanka (earthenware bowl), it is always about the joy of sharing and the unity that food brings.

When the idea of The Chofi Box was born, it wasn’t just about creating a product; it was about keeping this tradition alive. It was about bringing the community together, from the farmers at Okobbs Farms, where organic spices are grown, to the market women who share their Chofi knowledge and passion. Every step of the process has been a reminder of the importance of community — from the producers to the consumers.

Chofi brings people together in ways that go beyond food. From Michael and Karen secretly sharing a midnight bowl of Chofi when the kids go to bed, to the Aunties Florence, Araba, Laide, and Afua coming together to enjoy it a meal whilst catching up, Chofi has always been about connection. It’s about those shared moments that remind us we’re never alone, that we are part of something bigger — a community built on flavour, love, and tradition.
